This is a tutorial series produced for WPMU DEV, the largest, longest lasting WordPress theme and development site in the world. I’ve made several tutorials for WPMU DEV, which you’ll find within the portfolio areas of this site. My aim when creating tutorials is to produce in-depth video productions that demonstrate process while explaining purpose. My teaching system is similar to that of Lynda.com videos, where viewers are not only shown step-by-step actions for which to accomplish their goals, but are also given valuable knowledge that they can use to solve their own problems in the future, potentially beyond the scope of the program being learned.
One of the biggest challenges about producing tutorial videos, is that I also have to learn the program or product being demonstrated for it, and I don’t get a video of my own to learn from. This means that I also have to learn how to learn, and be able to teach myself well enough to create videos that will teach others. My videos are also distributed with upbeat, structured scripts that allow my voice to emphasize important points in a pre-constructed way, without sounding monotone or boring. It is a fundamental difference in my style that distinguishes my tutorials from many others in this similar field, and I think you’ll find it preferable to many other tutorial creators around the web, especially community sites such as YouTube.
