In late 2011, I was introduced to a once in a lifetime project: A documentary film involving international travel to the island nation of Cuba. The Grand Valley State University baseball team was going to be traveling there to play some baseball, experience culture, and learn more about the world beyond that of the United States. The team was going to play where few American players even get to travel to… and I was invited to film it.
This is a promotional video trailer for the feature film, which is currently in post-production, and seeking additional funding to complete. It’s the largest and most ambitious project of my filmmaking career yet, and it’s something that is so closely built upon the values and experiences of my life. It’s about diversity, humanity, cultural exploration, history education, storytelling, and more. We’re hoping to release the film in 2014, although it is not yet known due to finances.
